The annual Roblox convention  

Once a year, the video game platform Roblox holds one of the biggest video game conventions in existence, bringing together developers and gamers in a special celebration.  

We were able to be present and these are some of the things we learned on RDC2024.

 

Roblox in numbers  

During 2024, Roblox has experienced a remarkable growth in players, becoming one of the most used platforms.  

It currently has more than 79 million daily active users, which represents a 21% growth in players compared to the previous year.  

The international growth reflected in the different regions has been notorious, growing by 21% in the USA and Canada, and in the United States and Canada. 21% in the USA and Canada, 14% in Europe, 31% in Asia-Pacific and 22% in the rest of the world.   

Throughout 2024, experience creators have generated $803 million, up 18% compared to 2023. 

 

The future of gameplay in Roblox 

  • Party Mode 

The most social gaming platform, where sharing experiences with friends is one of the keys to fun, takes a step further when it comes to being able to play with your friends.   

One of the new updates that the community has been asking for for a long time has become a reality: partys are here.  

With this update, players will no longer have to resort to external platforms to be able to talk to each other in real time, but will be able to create a group call and be able to do so.   

With this update, players in the same group will be able to access different environments as a pre-designed group, making the games a more fun experience in company.

  • Community 

A new way for environment creators to connect with players who enjoy their experience.  

An expansion of the way creators communicate with users, allowing them to announce events, updates and other feedback about the experience within the experience page itself.  

In addition, users will have a new section where they will be able to share their opinions with other players and the experience creators: the forums.  

The forums will be a place where any user can comment or open a conversation, a way to create a deeper bond with the community, as well as a place where the creators can receive direct feedback from the players themselves.  

 

  • 3D generated by AI 

AI came into our lives years ago, completely changing the way we do many things. 

With the implementation of AI for creators, Roblox is looking to improve the experience of creating environments, making everything much simpler. 

With this new tool, creators will be able to make big changes across the board in a much simpler way, helping to streamline a job that could sometimes take hours to just minutes. 

 

  • Roblox E-commerce 

Sales on the platform are set to take a 180-degree turn. With future updates, creators will be able to start selling physical items in Roblox experiences.  

A new form of e-commerce, which completely changes the concept of a brand experience, opening up a new world of possibilities for brands, which will be able to launch new products within a virtual world so that users can reach them more directly.  

 

  • Roblox DISTROKID 

Now you can go everywhere with your music in Roblox. An extensive catalogue of songs that you can discover directly in Roblox.  

With this update, Roblox plans to give a different touch to each of the moments that users can live within the platform, giving a personal and musical touch to each of the moments of the players.  

Users will be able to select from a wide range of options the different songs from real artists that will accompany them in every moment, having the possibility to change it whenever they want.

Our opinion 

More opportunities and more creativity, this is the summary of everything we have seen during RDC 2024.  

Updates where both users and creators will have new tools at their disposal that will help them to enjoy the experiences and gameplay in Roblox and improve communication between both parties, to create experiences that succeed and please the community.  

Undoubtedly, these ads open up a range of possibilities for brands that want to be part of all this change that Roblox represents, although so far, everything we have done has been a work that we are very proud of.
